The first rubber dinghy, or rather the first Alson skimming craft, was made in Milan in 1971.
At the time, Alson was a very small company run by one man, the owner Walter Falsoni, an artisan and design engineer.
7 years passed and on the 16th April 1978, Falsoni launched the first VTR (Rigid Fibreglass Keel) dinghy, exclusively in Italy.
Since then, a lot has changed at Alson. The headquarters were moved to Osnago, a showroom was opened in Milan and the company can now boast to having on the market 15 boats altogether (10 VTR and 5 with a dismountable keel) from the small Pram 200 to the larger Charme 43 Cabin.
All the dinghies possess exceptional requirements, having been created by a company that, although has undergone many changes over the years, has also kept its artisanship capacities unaltered. This means that Alson dinghies are still made by hand with care, attention to detail and above all passion.
Let’s see how: once all the materials have been chosen, they are left to “rest” in a storeroom for no less than 4 months, in order to confer to them unique strength and abrasion resistance. For example, the use of aged rubber is much more effective. After sanding down the parts that are to be superimposed, the glue is then applied with a brush and then the pieces are stuck together. Thereafter another “rest period”, which constitutes one of the secrets of the uniqueness of Alson crafts, begins for the future dingy. The tubulars are seasoned for at least 3 months before being fitted to the keel, in order to guarantee a perfect airtight even in the most critical conditions due to change in temperature range. All of this for dinghies that unite unbeatable building specifications with equally unique comfort requirements. The keel’s interior is designed (personally by Walter Fasoni) to allow every object to be tidily stowed away and guarantee safe and comfortable seating for each passenger.
Furthermore, the keel’s exterior is planned (by Walter Fasoni) in such a way, that while sailing, even in rough water, no spray can reach the passengers. There should be no need to mention that even at high speed, the keel’s shape guarantees perfect seaworthiness and avoids the risk of skidding while taking a possible wrong turning about: thanks to the special positioning of its skids, the craft maintains its balance.
A drop-leaf table, room for an ice-box, an awning, a covering that can be transformed into a tent all allow the highest adaptability in the use of an Alson dingy. A choice of colours is also possible: from standard pearl grey to white with an emerald green or blue finish.
Therefore, for whoever wishes to go fishing either out of or under the water, waterski, parafly, sea camping, salvaging or simply just boating on the sea or lake will discover the ideal craft in an Alson dinghy.
Alson uses the very best materials in the making of its products.
PENNEL & FLIPOI and AERAZUR materials are used in making the tubes, with polyester support and calendered made with a neoprene hypalon compound, which guarantees the material great resistance against extreme weather conditions, hydrocarbons and ageing.
